The biggest lure of Botswana is its wildlife. Over fifty percent of the country is made up of wildlife parks. Lions, cheetahs, crocodiles, hippos, elephants, antelope, wild dogs, and hundreds of different bird species can all be found in these parks.
The Okavango Delta, where the Okavango River widens to become the largest inland delta in the world, is one of Southern Africa's most impressive—and well-liked—wildlife sites. Lying in the middle of the Kalahari desert, swamps and water channels draw wildlife from thousands of miles away, they share the desert with Bantu people who have inhabited the area since the 18th century. Elephants are abundant in the nearby Chobe National Park, and it's simple to see many of Africa's well-known animals, like zebras and lions. Birds of all kinds are drawn to the desolate salt pans of Makgadikgadi Pans National Park all year long. Nxai Pan National Park and Mokolodi are two additional fantastic game parks.
Exploration of the waterways is at its finest by mokoro – a traditional canoe. Botswana is the ideal place for your first safari.
